In addition to its Triple Quality Assured (TQA™) Program, PharmaNutrients has gone a few steps ahead of its competition by having applied for a Site Licence and an Establishment Licence.

The Site Licence is a regulatory document issued by the Natural Health Product Directorate of Health Canada, which allows the facility to perform specific activities with respect to Natural Health Products in Canada. There are 4 different activities that a Site Licence allows a facility to do – manufacture, package, label and import. As PharmaNutrients is primarily a raw material supplier and conducts importation, its Site Licence allows PharmaNutrients to import natural health products. PharmaNutrients obtained its Site Licence on June 2, 2008.

The Establishment Licence is a regulatory document issued by the Therapeutic Products Directorate of Health Canada. The Establishment Licence also allows the facility to perform specific activities with respect to drug products or therapeutic products in Canada. With the Establishment Licence, a company can also apply to be able to export products internationally.

Just like the Site Licence, the Establishment Licence allows a facility to – manufacture, package, label, import and test. The primary difference between the two Licences, aside from the type of product they authorize a facility to handle is the fact that you are asked to apply for an Establishment Licence if you are planning on testing therapeutic products in your facility, whereas this isn’t implied in the Site Licence. Another difference between the two Licences is that PharmaNutrients is required to be inspected by Health Canada before the Establishment Licence can be granted, whereas it is not required yet for the Site Licence.
